Truck towing overloaded kills, driver gets felony charges.

I'm sure we all agree to the total weight. (y) I kind reacted to one of those right/wrong things between members. Still think the weight doesn't matter much. IMO that just wasn't the right truck to tow 2x its own weight, esp in that condition. (rough, apparently ... got tires?)

So if published reports are all fake news, the truck weighs 19k lbs, and the boat weighs only 19k lbs the guy was 'within the truck's tow rating' and shouldn't need trailer brakes? Who would expect otherwise and blame the size of the load, esp behind an F350 duallie? btw, when a trailer of...

Bet you're right about that. If alum is for low weight no steel leaves & axle beams would save a lot. The boat is way wider than the dualls on the truck. Trailers brakes are brakes and are essential for many that don't fold up in a corner of the barn, Some are surge/juice, some electric. How the lakes are in Nevada anymore that boat could have been on it's way to the auction block. Anchor...

Boats compared here have little in common with that one on the trailer. I'd guess its beam to be 12'-14' min. Add a stateroom, galley, & plumbing along with o'all height of a cruiser, more glass & metal trim, etc. Those add a lot more weight than tacking 10' length onto a 8' or 8' 6" beam...

    Chipper Shredder

Brush piles crumble to compost over the years, always seem to leave room to pile more on by the next season. When I burn it's whole tree trunks amid long limbs and grapple-loads of brush. My 9 hp chipper has been idle for years due to the labor of feeding it. If use is planned to be long enough...

    Momma/accountant sez to get a Top-n-tilt!

I have extra top links for using tiller/flail with or w/o PEC on the draft arms depending on which tractor one's moved to. No big length adjustments, just selecting one for each application and maybe a tweak when checking that the lock-nut is secure. Two CUTs have hand-crank leveling boxes...

What should I do with my old front bucket?

I suggest keeping the spare bucket even beyond the life/activity of this thread. It is an asset (esp that one) and as with any other all options are open until one is exercised. (hoping you don't need grocery $$ soon) I never owned a piece of equipment that wasn't worth parking/storing space or...

What should I do with my old front bucket?

I'd hang onto it for a while. Suppose you might replace the tractor but could use the QA bits an another. (commonality may fit many sizes of FEL) Put the old stuff back on the machine for sale and if the conversion won't fit a next tractor sell the adapter and QA bucket as a package for someone...

Turkeys in the yard . . . a better way?

I've found that shooting cheap bottle rockets ('with report') toward geese or turkeys is as good a deterrent as a firearm for scaring 'em off tho' "Nothing lasts forever including balloons and a good time". Any method takes some due diligence to get the most from. Example: Floating gator head...

    Momma/accountant sez to get a Top-n-tilt!

Ya never know whose wife has been pushin' up daisies for 41 yrs and hasn't been replaced. Mine never complains, though. Son and I both cook and clean routinely. He's only been married once too, and still is. (never got to know his Mom) btw, I have to borrow/adopt grand-kids. To each his own ...

    Bad Boy Land Plane

Angled blades cut better and may bounce less, not much different than with a rear blade or LR. That a BB is perpendicular is part of why it'll so often leave ripples. Any pull to one side might reduce play in the draft linkage. Weigh and braces can be added as needed depending on conditions/use...

Nortrac For Sale - Seems like a great deal

Come-along holding up the 3PH, top link anchor looks to be broken, PTO shield mauled, inspection cover missing from transmission/HST case. "For parts" might be a fair deal. I'd want to ask more about what's left of it.

Happy wife, happy life. Don't ask, don't tell. Anyway going with a dealer option might be the best/easiest way to get the right remotes set up if not there already. IMO if you only have to pay for it once don't cheap out.

Turkeys in the yard . . . a better way?

In more than a few places raccoons will trim reproduction numbers considerably no matter how big the clutches. I seen groups of up to a dozen with a single hen, 15 or 16 accompanied by two adults. If the coyotes are back I'll be lucky to see as many as in years past. I'm out to protect the few...
