Added another Kubota to the family.

My father finally threw in the towel on one of the IH tractors that was my grandfathers. The old 300 utility has quit on him time and time again, despite the attention he has paid it. He told me that if he wants or needs to use a tractor, it should start every time, no questions asked. We'll...

Help with output shaft seal replacement

For those who have done it, does the mid case need to be removed, or does the seal go in the area where the clutch throwout bearing is located?

Damaged block installing block heater L5240

I had two things to take care of tonight. 1). Install a block heater. 2) replace the rubber suction hose that connects to the hydraulic pump. It's cracked and sucking air, causing power steering problems. Instructions on the block heater call for removing the hydraulic pump to access the...

Chains  L5240 Ring chains on R4 tires.. Opinions?

Tractor is a Kubota L5240. I have at least 5" of clearance between the top of the tire and the fender, and 1 1/2" between the side of the tire and the inner fender. A quick check tonight with a ruler tells me that I can swap the rims side to side and get 3" more clearance to the inner fender...

New to me L5240. Front axle pinion seal leak.

I picked up a 2007 L5240 last Thursday after years of wanting a 2nd, larger tractor, 800 hrs on the meter. Dual rear remotes, LA854 loader with 72" round back bucket with a set of remotes up front. Also a canopy. Sure is comfortable compared to my L3400. Anyways, I picked up oil and a...

    L3400 brake noise

While using the tractor to load logs on my sawmill today, I noticed a noise from the brakes. I flipped the lever that locks the pedals together up so they would act independently of one another. It seemed to make the noise when I stepped on the left pedal. I checked underneath to make sure I...

    Demountable trailer wheel/tire

I have a factory built equipment trailer with dexter 6000lb axles on it. It has the mobile home type wheels on it, but the are real deal, not from a mobile home. The brake flanges are bolted on. I am replacing the two older tires with new 8-14.5 tires meant for equipment trailers, but I want...

    Recommendation for plow truck tires.

I need a suggestion for new tires for my 2005 Silverado 2500HD. I rarely use this truck. It has the original tires on it with only 17,000 miles on the odometer. The stock tires have plenty of highway life left on them, but winter driving is terrible. I have a very steep driveway, and I have...

    BH80X Leakdown?

I got my BH80X last Friday. I have noticed that if I shut the tractor off for a few hours with the BH up, that it will drop a couple of inches by the time I return. The outriggers also drop a little bit overnight. I always lower the hoe when I park it for the night with the bucket resting on...

    Backhoe  New Woods BH80X today..

At an Idle, I can do a lot. At 1500RPM's this thing has more power than I expected. I was worried that I didn't have the GPM's to run it to it's full potential, but I was wrong. I spent 2 hours getting used to it tonight. In that time, I went from bumbling around to actually controlling it.

    Will a BH77 fit an LA463/L3400?

I've seen threads here saying that the LA463 will fit the new L3200/3800, but are the new backhoes also interchangeable with the older loader.

    Case Dozer Questions

I Had a dozer loaned to me. It's a Case 1150B. This same dozer was used by a friend, and he said at one time, while trying to back up a decent incline, that it wouldn't move. Turns out it was low on trans. fluid. Does the transmission use the same fuid as the hydraulic system, like a...

I've picked up a Bad Habit.

I have noticed that when I am using my loader, I have a tendency to put a little pressure on the lever so that the relief valve hisses. Most of the time, it's when I have a full load in the bucket or on the forks. Gotta stop doing that. Will it weaken the pressure relief valve over time?

Looking for a John Deere Boombox.

My son's birthday is coming up in June. He will be 5 yrs old. He has been infatuated with John Deere tractors since he could crawl. He has all kinds of Ertl JD toys. Radio controlled JD tractors, JD tractors with loaders, and some without. My wife painted two of the walls of his room...

Anyone heard of "Foreman" trailer axles?

I am not having much luck tracking down parts for the "Foreman Industries" Axles. My pads are quite worn, and I have one bad electromagnet. The electromagnet is a round disk that goes around the spindle, about 8" in diameter (looks expensive). I'm guessing that I will be better off replacing...

    2010 Colorado DMI Wiring Help

Does anyone have access to wiring schematics for the 2010 Chevy Colorado? I am installing a Nitestar DMI in it, and am having trouble identifying the correct wire to tap into the speed sensor from the transmission. I have a 2007 that I installed one in last, but the 2010 seems much different...

A day with my new winch

Finally picked up a logging winch yesterday. I have wanted one for as long as I have owned my tractor. We uncrated it this morning and cut the PTO shaft down. I have owned my tractor for 46 months now, and I just took the plastic cover off the PTO shaft for the 1st time... Up until today I...

    JIC Fittings

Can anyone tell me what size "JIC" fittings I have on my L3400 going from loader valve to the hydraulic block? Also any idea of what size NPT is on the loader valve and the hydraulic block where it adapts to JIC? I think the NPT size on the loader supply lines are 3/4, but the threads aren't...

Please help me find the right Valve...

I am getting ready to install remotes on my tractor. I understand that I'll need a double-acting, open centered valve. I want to do the following things with remotes: 1) Use a FEL-mounted meyer snowplow with 2 single-acting cylinders, or 1 double-acting cylinder. 2) Use a 3PH hydraulic...

    Meyer Snowplow adapted to QA?

Last winter, a relative of a good friend decided he was going to sell his Kubota L3400. He had bought a set of double-ring chains for it that were like new, and he had bought an old 6' meyers snowplow and made the plow frame mount with pins to a q/a plate for the FEL. He had no use for the...

    My new counterweight

Ever since I can remember, I have seen these weights at my grandparent's home. I remember trying to pick up one side of them with my cousins. This could Saturday I asked my grandmother if I could have them. I think they used to go to my grandfathers' Allis Chalmers dozer. Best guess...

    Wood Splitter hydraulic problems.

My dad's Huskee (TSC) wood splitter started acting up today. It did not have much power and would barely split some 12" Maple (with no knots). I have the exact same splitter & have no problems. Mine is one year newer. His spltter revs up nicely, but unlike mine, it didn't seem to "kick down"...

    New electric brakes very weak

I installed a 3500# axle on my wood trailer on Friday night. I have a Draw-Tite Activator II installed on my tractor with a momentary push button switch to activate the brake controller (in place of the brake light). All wiring on the trailer is new, with separate grounds for both electric...

    Electric brakes on my tractor-Finally!

I have a new 3500Lb axle on order for my 4x8 utility trailer with electric brakes. I have had too many close calls hauling firewood down my mountain. I had a draw-tite brake controller sitting around that I salvaged about 2 years ago. There is a beautiful spot for mounting it under the...

    Winches  PTO winch with L3400?

Given the long history of the PTO problems & L3400's, would you use a PTO logging winch? My serial # shows the tractor being built after the upgraded cams. Is it wise to attempt it? I have had my tractor almost 2 yrs now & haven't even used the PTO yet. I was thinking that it might be wiser...

    electric brakes for my tractor

I have had a few scary descents lately down my mountain hauling down firewood. The terrain is steep in spots on the main road & I am going to eventually get hurt if I don't do something to help slow me down. What typically happens is that if I kick up a rock, I start sliding with the weight of...

    L3400 50 hr service questions

I am nearing the 50 Hr mark on my tractor. I stopped by the dealer & picked up oil & Hydraulic filters the other day. $33 something for the Hyd, & 9 something for the oil. My tractor is not hydro. My main concern at this time is to just change the engine oil. It will be synthetic. I...

IH 300 Utility 12 volt Conversion problems

My father has an early 1950's IH300 utility tractor. It was purchased somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 years ago by my grandfather. Somewhere in the tractor's history, a 6- 12 volt conversion was done. Dad's been having problems with the machine for a couple of years now. He always...

Last August, my father was working in a sandpit, clearing trees along the outside borders for expansion. New Northern Tool machines? (Big ones!)

It has been a while since I have been to the Northern Tool wbsite. My jaw almost dropped to the floor when I saw that they are now selling 65 & 85 HP tractors there. I know Jinma makes the smaller ones, but the two bigger ones look almost like an Agco.

    QA plate on factory bucket

OK. I have seen posts all over the place on the correct Kubota P/N for my LA463 loader. Supposedly the Quick Attach P/N is L2230A? I have also seen many posts on the "finished" product of someone welding QA plates on their buckets. How do you get the existing pin plates off? Seems like a...
