B2320, B2620, and B2920

I recently got the same quote here. B2620 with LA364 FEL, 60 " MMM and loaded turfs..15,800.00 + tax. That's 6% here in the Free State by the way

Finally! A local dealer has a B2920 with FEL assembled and ready for me to take a look at. I'm going to try to get over there tomorrow. I'll be able to see it side-by-side with the B3030, so I can make some good size comparisons between the two. My camera is already in the truck, so I'll take a bunch of pics to post.

I also got another price quote last night on a B2920 with FEL and BH65, delivered, tax included, for $21,500. I had gotten some quotes a little higher, without tax, which adds another $1000. That latest quote was an email quote, without any face-to-face contact, so I think it should be 'negotiable'.

I'm waiting for that dealer to get me a quote on a B3030 TLB setup for comparison sake.

It seems that the piecemeal quotes I'm getting put the B2920 TLB anywhere from $2000-$2900 less than a B3030 TLB. I've been stressing about which machine to go with, mostly based on the price difference, with the state of the economy and all right now. But today, my wife said for that difference in price, I should get the B3030.

What a great wife. :)

Glad you are finally getting a chance to see one of these tractors, and try it out! We are anxious, of course, to hear what you think about it, and how you feel it compares with the B3030. Did they give you a breakdown on the price? I'm wondering what they added for the backhoe.

/ B2320, B2620, and B2920 #165
The dealer I'm going to tomorrow had the B2920 priced at $22,200 before tax & delivery - 15,900 for tractor/loader + 6,300 for BH65 without the thumb option. They're known for having some of the highest pricing around, but their service dept is well worth the extra money  - just ask LoneCowboy :D

No backhoe on either, but I have seen the BH75 in person. No one has a BH65 for me to see, so if I were to order it, it'd be sight unseen. But I need to see the 2 machines side-by-side so I can finally make my decision.

I was really beginning to think I would have to just get the 2920, but after my wife's comments today, I'm back to leaning heavily toward the 3030. But I will try to be as objective as possible in my review of the 2 machines, and come up with a list of pros & cons for each, and give my take on the nearly $3k price difference. Since all of those points are going to weigh heavily on my decision, I figure it should have some bearing on others folks decisions also.

What makes her even better is she says she'll stay single if something were to happen to me because no one could replace me in her and my daughter's eyes.

I don't know what I've done to pull the wool over their eyes like that, but I'm not complaining. :D I used to shower her with jewelry and stuff, but not for a number of years because I need the money for tractors and stuff. ;) I did let her decide on our house though - she wanted a more expensive nice house in move-in condition, and I wanted a cheaper fixer-upper so I could 'eventually' make it nice, so I guess that evens things out.

Sorry I bailed for a while. I've had my 2620 for going on three weeks now-I'm getting used to it, being a first timer, but I'm enjoying what it is doing for me. By far the Bush Hog has been the most powerfull implement. Currently going back and forth with the dealer about some mmm issues (I don't think they assembled it compentently-already dropped the connecting rod to the 3 pt because the cotter pin wasn't folded over and the height control handle dropped out the first time I turned it). Don't believe this is a Kubota issue, just someone not paying attention to detail.
I tried posting pics a couple of weeks ago, but they do not upload. I'll give it another try.
Reading this thread it looks like I paid average price for it and I'm definetly not disapointed. 12.2 hrs on 6 gal of diesel. 15.6 hrs to date.

what size brush hog did you get angain, I was wondering how things were going for you. why did you go with 26 over the 29?

Thanks Ductape_I just tried a pic again and it said upload of the file failed. The pics are not to large-I dont know why I cannot upload them. I'll give it a couple more tries then if I don't succeed I'll email them to you-thanks.

Msiewert-I have the Bush Hog SQ148 (4 footer). I went with the 2620 over the 2920, because I was told by the dealer that there probably wouldn't be much of a noticeable power difference between the two. So I saved the $1000. The dealer wasn't even planning on carrying the 2620 for this reason. He was just going to offer the 2320 or 2920.

I stopped by a dealer today and got to see the B2920 and B3030 side by side. Both machines had FEL only.

There is a fairly significant size difference between the 2 machines, though the rear tires are close in size and the fronts are the same size.

Operator stations on both machines were comfortable, and with more than enough room for me, but I'm not a big guy at only 5'-9". The B3030 operator station was a little bit bigger. Both seats are extremely comfortable, and the 2920 seat seems to be essentially a 3030 seat without the armrests. The seat linkage on the 2920 was a bit different, and was inferior to the 3030's. Getting in and out of the seat on the 2920 caused it to flop around in a weird way until it settles in because the spring is set off to one side, where the 3030 seat spring is centered. I do a LOT of climbing in and out of the seat during the course of a work day, and I know the seat flop would become real annoying in a hurry.

Control layouts were good on both machines, though slightly different, and the 2920 has the same instrumentation as the 3030. The light switch appeared to be the same, so once that B26 horn button is figured out for the 3030, it should be able to be added to the little B's. The 2920's integrated loader joystick is a very nice feature. I would not buy the 3030 without upgrading to the fender mounted joystick from the cab model (it's less than a $200 upgrade). Overall, the LA403 hydraulic functions felt much smoother and more refined than those of the LA364 on the 2920. I raised the loaders to full height and then rocked the machines from side to side by grabbing onto the bucket edge. Although the narrower 2920 looks significantly less stable and 'feels' significantly lighter when operating, it didn't rock any more than the larger, wider 3030. That's something that really bothered me about my little Case subcompact - lots of body lean and twist when the bucket was fully raised.

The new HST on the 2920 was not as 'sure' as the 3030, or the BX22 that I've run - there was a bit of a lag when depressing the 'go' pedal - may have just been an adjustment, though. I like the entire 3030 HST pedal sitting on top of the deck better than the one on the 2920 that just has the front and rear pedals poking through the deck because of the numerous different potential foot positions, which I've found in the past to be a benefit during a long, tiring day of tractor work.

The little 29hp 3 cylinder was nice and smooth, but believe it or not, the bigger 4 cylinder was even smoother. Though there is only a 1hp difference, I think I've calculated a torque difference of nearly 10 ftlbs, and you can feel it when driving both machines.

Overall, I was fairly impressed with the new little B. It is a nice size machine, definitely a step up from a subcompact, with a pretty powerful loader for such a little machine. However, the amount of steel in the FEL mount is significantly less than the 3030, and even was less than the older BX and my subcompact. I like a small, nimble machine, as repeated climbing on and off the smaller machines is less of a 'chore' than it is with the bigger machines, and it is nice for getting around tight spaces.

But after owning a subcompact, and cursing it's limitations nearly 50% of the time, I can see myself wishing for a larger compact almost immediately after bringing the 2920 out to my property. I see the new B's as being a nice step up if someone is seriously considering a subcompact, or a good size machine for your first machine. But for someone that's already outgrown a subcompact, I think they'd also quickly outgrow the new B2x20. The nearly $3k price difference for the TLB setups might seem to justify getting one of the new Bs over the 3030, but after spending some time on both machines, it seems as if that price difference should be even greater. I think the new B TLBs fill a nice gap between the BX24 and 3030 TLBs. But adding up all of the additional features, size, & power of the Deluxe Bs compared to the smaller standard Bs, the price difference seems to be well worth the money to upgrade.

For me, the decision to go with the B2920 would be strictly because I want to save $2800 over the 3030. But I'd rather spend a little more each month (that's what's nice about Kubota's financing deals right now) and get a machine that I could be satisfied with for quite a few years (I'm hoping at least 10 years). A 3030 might possibly be another stepping stone, but there's no doubt in my mind that the B2920 would definitely be a stepping stone, and I'd be counting down the years until my next trade-up. And those trade-ups can be a little costly if they're done too soon.

I got some good side-by-side pics that I'll post a little later.

looked at a 3030 ,yself today a new 2007 unit, still not new B's to be found anyday is all I hear and no literature either on the B or the full line catalog. Dealer was steering me to the B7800 said it was more of a work house standard tractor, any comments on that model?

Here are a few pics.

Yes, the B7800 is a good machine, at around $1800 less than the B3030. It just is missing some of the bells & whistles, but would run circles around the B2920. Same size as the B3030.

Here's a pic of a B7800 I rented last fall. I rented that for a day after renting a larger L35 TLB for a total of 4 days and a full size New Holland TLB for 2 days. I was VERY impressed with the B7800 and its capabilities, and I may still consider the B7800, but there are a few 'features' of the B3030 that I'd really like. My being impressed with the B7800 is what has ultimately led me to favor that size/hp machine.

I would really appreciate the carrying capacity of the larger bucket. Also the higher lift of the larger unit.

Don

On paper, the loader lift capacity is only 140 lbs more with the B3030, but it feels like it can handle a lot more than the B2920 because of the overall size and beefyness in comparison. Now, go look at a B3030 next to a B26 TLB, and the B3030 looks like a flimsy little machine, and they're both the same size.

Very nice review Bandit! Thanks for taking the time to give us such detail. Funny you should mention the similarity between the SCUT you had, and the B20 series. I've wondered a few times if they wouldn't have limitations that are similar. I'm not sure that I'm totally convinced that the B20 series is enough of an upgrade from my BX either, but like how nimble they are.

Actually, I saw my first B20 series in person today. I made a loop to check out a couple of dealers. One had (2) B2320's, and (2) B2920's still in crates, and the sales guy said he didn't know when they might be getting any of the new B's in! :D I made it to the last dealer just before dark, and they were closing, but did have an assembled B2320 with turfs out in the lot. I didn't want to be climbing around on it when they closed, but I did sneak a quick perch in the seat. The seat on the one I tried was firmly anchored, and at 6'2" + and 220 or so, I probably would notice if it wasn't. :D ( Doc says my enemy is food :( ) My quick look confirmed many of Bandit's observations.

speaking of seats is there a way to tell the new seat design from the old problemsome one on the B3030?

the B7800 on the lot today had folding ROPS is this an upgrade or something? Also how did you like the loader joystick in comparison to location of others?
