These are the parts of the puzzle.

The meter box on the left was included in my installation fee from TXU. That was around $570 for six poles and around 1,500 feet of wire. Really a good deal when you consider there original quote was for over $700, and a month later when I requested it done, they "LOWERED" the price. How often does that happen?

The two large cardbord boxes on pallets make up my disconnect. One box is the houseing. It's 6' 4" tall. The other box behind it holds the face plate and six 299 amp circut breakers. Those two boxes were a special order item that took 4 weeks to get here and cost almost $2,100.

There's $200 in plastic pipe and another $200 in galvanized.

I got the 4 inch galvanized for less then half price from the places I checked thanks to Wroughtn Harv making a phone call and hooking me up several months ago. Thanks again Harvey!!!!

You got one heck of a deal on the electric poles. Back in 1980, I paid $450 per pole for those that were necessary to get to my home. I did a little bargaining and got them to put in 4 for free and I had to pay for the other 4. Good thing, because of the 4 that they gave me for free, two had to be drilled first to get them set into rock. Glad that I didn't have to pay for the wire either. It took two crews almost a week to rebuild the system to get me 200 amps since the line going to the next closest home was over 30 years old. Now, on all new construction, they require underground in many places in town. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks Junkman, I was really expecting to pay at least ten times that amount. I've heard all sorts of horror stories, but forturnately, I don't have any to tell.

We had some rain over the weekend and I had to wait for it dry out some.

This will only be a short run from the pole to the location of the meter box. I was told I had to be six feet or more from the pole. I'll be 8ft away.

They also require that there's three feet of dirt above the conduit. I'll be four feet deep, wich is plenty.

Of course, after I dug the hole, cut the pipe, and got everything lined up, I found out my glue had dried up on me.

Oh well, it's hot and hummid out and we had to call it a day sometime.
