How Many Hours on Your BX?

Just wondering about some of the posts on BX maintenance and the bragging about not having any issues. It seems the average user of compact tractor only put a max of 50 Hrs/year. My BX 25 is a 2011 year and I now have 1500 hours on it. I just lost 3 months of seat time due to my Gall Bladder emergency and surgery or it would be a lot more. Little things are starting to break now. If I had to take it to the dealer shop for every little thing I would never have it to produce work. The WSM has saved me a bundle of labor costs ($125/hr here).

So lets start a little poll on life cycle of BXs. Mine: 5 years at 1500 hrs. still only minor problems.

Mine is 8 months old with 75 hours on it. Only thing that broke on it was a backhoe control lever. The part was replaced under warranty and I did the work.

2009 BX25, about 700 hrs. No problems with the tractor, but the front tires leaked, so I got new ones and filled them. The seat is getting a bit worn, and the fuse went on the 12-volt outlet. All in all, a very reliable tractor. Money well spent!

I've had a few though over 3500 hours. Daily use in dairy barns.

just short of 5 yrs. @ 370 hrs. BX25. primarily used for mowing.

• front tie rod boots failed (cracked)
  
• main driveshaft boots failed (cracked)
  
• front tires lose air occasionally
  
• top radiator hose started leaking recently. replaced it

the boot rubber is definitely a materials defect on kubota/supplier side. all failed within 20 months and have failed again since. wrote to kubota - no reply.

other than these, no issues.

2002 BX22 with 1275 hours digging, tilling and general work with bucket and forks.

1998 B7300 with 2255 hours mowing.

Both still going strong.

My 2003 BX2200 has 1420hrs on it. FEL, MMM, Tiller, Sprayer, Snow.

2011 BX2660, 500 hours, steering system hydraulic lines wore through against frame rail, I replaced them.

2010 BX1860, 470 hours, used 4 seasons out of the year for all sorts of activities including mowing, tree pulling, aerating, PTO generating, snow moving, FEL'ing, and so on. No inherent product quality issues to date. I self-inflicted a few problems, for example just about tearing off the left side ROPS-mounted blinker/indicator light assembly and breaking one of the lenses in the process. This was due to a tree and associated branch that came at me out of nowhere.

I would be interested to know whether folks having issues with rubber boots (etc) store their tractor indoors or outdoors. Mine is stored indoors (in a non-climate controlled environment, but out of the sunlight).

I'm not sure of how old, probably about 8 years old, has 600 hours on it. All my problems I would consider minor. My current problem is a problem with the steering, its my understanding some O rings need replaced, but the problem comes and goes.

Purchased my BX in June of 2011. I have 180 hours on it. Had to tighten the radiator clamp once. I use it mainly for snow plowing and hauling firewood. I'm extremely happy with my Kubota and I plan to do a major service this fall. Thanks to this forum and Paul Short, I can do most of it myself.

I bought my BX2360 in 2011 it now has 96 hours on it. No problems but it has very little time on it. I bought it because I wanted something small with a FEL and to mow with. I thought my Kubota G1900 would have given me problems by now but it is running as good as the day I bought it. So I haven't ever even put the MMM on it yet. The mowed deck in covered up and in the garage.

I traded my 2000 BX2200 in 2009 with 1257 hours on it. It had a FEL and MMM, with probably 1,000 hours mowing time. I had to replace all 4 power steering hoses, the air cleaner bracket, and the fuel gauge sender-all common problems. Changed the front tires at about 1,000 hours-weather checked. Never changed the battery.

I can't say I ever recall anyone talking about a BX "wearing" out.....

I finally had to split my 1984 L2550DT in half to do the clutch. 5,540 hours on this little guy. Engine runs great just lost the rear crank seal and clutch failed due to oil.

Oil and filter every 100 hours. Hydraulic fluid and filter every 300 hours and frequent grease. Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. Oil is cheaper than metal. Shoved a 1/2 inch stick through the radiator core 21 years ago and has never developed a leak.

This is one tough little guy.

same. always indoors but not climate-controlled. similar environment as my cars, some of which are older, see much more use, and have all the boots intact.

it's clearly a supplier a material failure.

2006 1200 hours. Have slowed down the last 5 years...Most of work accomplished! Main transmission input leak, front steering pivot leak, FEL loader arms and mounts WORN and had to replace.

2004 BX2230 that I bought used in 2011 (off eBay!) with 591 hours. Now I have 918 on it. I probably don't need it, but I sure love having it and there's lots of stuff I wouldn't have done without it. My only real concern is the mower height cam and finger are worn pretty badly; tough to get the mower to stay in Top position.
