Gary,

Thanks for sharing your disaster. Hopefully it has opened some eyes
to the things we do that are dangerous.

102 fever! Get yourself to your Doc if you haven't already.

Heal well and quickly.

Bill

102 fever may be from an infection, so get yer butt to the doc, like Bill said.
Hope you feel better once you get that fever knocked down.
Keep up with the PT - it's uncomfortable, but the shortest road to recovery.

Best wishes for your recovery keep on keeping on keeping on. it might not seem like its happening very fast but time is best healer not discounting God but in his timing.

Thanks guys.
The fever had me worried too. I called the doctor who did the surgery which is now 80 miles from where I'm at. They told me to go to emergency room at a hospital. Luckily that was the peak and went back to around 99 and for last two days has been normal or a little below.@ 98.5. If it goes back up I'll head to the ER or family dr.
It's a slow go. I sometimes forget I don't heal as fast at 60 as I did at 30.

Mending is slow for those of us over 60 but given time you will heal. God bless

Thanks bumpy. I try to walk 3 or 4 times a day but only a short distance. And ofcourse up & down for the urinal and potty chair. Yuk! Luckily I have good care and a adjustable tempurpedic bed. Thanks for all the encouragement and well wishes.
Hang in there.I had major back surgery in 2007 L 3-4-5 that did not go so well.I was in the hostipal for 40 days bed ridden had a wheel chair and walker.Heck of a lot of therapy and some grit in my arse I did return to my job after 9 months. It was a long haul but I continued to work as a electric lineman until 2014 when I finally retired.I wish you well.

Gary,

Try not to get too discouraged by the slow mending and seeming lack of progress. Though in my experience it can be depressing and more than a little frustrating.

My "butt accident" (post #73 this thread) was 1-1/2 years ago and some mornings I still have to ask my wife to help me get my socks on. Heating pad helps some, but I lost a good bit of range of motion in my legs . . . have difficulty stepping over obstacles and getting my leg over my bicycle. Progress is measured, at best, in months . . . and sometimes improvement is so slow it's hard to see much change at all. But still it *is* progress. And it doesn't much stop me from getting around and exercising now.

Your injury was far worse than mine, so I'd think you will be looking at well more than a year. Hang in there, you will get better.

Thanks bumperm for the words of encouragement. You accident sure didn't sound like no picnic either. I actually seem to be walking ( with walker) ever so slightly better with less pain. :) this is a good sign. My return dr apt is on the 21st and hoping I'm better for the 4 hr r/t ride. Any other follow up will be near me in Ohio. The farm is in SE ky. To add insult to injury my fiancé' actually owns the farm and since I've been laid up her cousin there told a major lie on me. She said there was a red car with tn plates parked hidden in front of truck over night. NOT TRUE , but she's suspicious and I was there by myself working. She has now started selling off everything in a mad rage believing I cheated on here. She sold a $4000 truck yesterday ( to her cousin) I believe for $500. Everything including the whole farm we've worked hard in for 4 years will be gone too soon. Now I have to figure out how to get my two tractors, implements and multitude of other things gone or sold. I guess when it rains it pours. I was totally blindsided by this lie and the reactions that followed. ??
Oh well. I'm Alive ;)

Would be easier to conjur up a medication that will bring you back to your old self in less than 24 hours, than it would be for men to understand the operating system of the female of the species. When we are old and wise, we come to the realization that there are things a man just does not know . . . at least when it comes to the distaff side. Maybe that's part of the allure.
