I have always thought the way to expedite this whole project is to fabricate some sort of solid back to the cab, whip out a flat deck and put your hitches on it and go. I see this project stalling out if you keep going with that custom body idea and or pickup frontend idea. You can't make money with it sitting around waiting on a lot of custom fabrication.

I think it would be perfect for what you want to do in your last post.

van will stay for a few months. making it run relliable and making it usefull comes first.
I got the major motivation booster with all the free angle iron. I am drawing up 3d sketches of flatbed now with hatch for fifth wheel and goose neck hitch.

It took me 2 days of grinding carrage bolt heads off. I would grind some and then lift on the floor frame with a floor jack to pop the ground bolt heads through and find any that I missed.
but now there is 1 more sub frame welded on. I got my angle grinder ready for that
I found out a couple things...
2 loads to the dump yesterday and maybe 1 more. everything else is burnable or scap metal
the vehicle frame is THICK AS **** and straight. it is right close to 1/4" or 3/8".. no curves behind the cab at all.
and it sure does have alot of springs..
also keep in mind that this is my first 1 ton..

I have to get in on this and watch to see what happens!
is it a C channel frame or boxed frame?

If you reinforce the actual frame with square box tubing that will help alot.

I keep visualizing an extra long stakebed with roll off hydraulic option. Use wood down the 4 foot center (except where goosneck ball gets mounted/recessed) to save a bit on weight and be able to easily replace. Then use steel on the outside to end, either sheet or box tubing, where tires would roll. Have the entire thing on hydraulics so you can tilt (dump) and use it as a roll off to load cargo like cars, atvs, light trucks.

Now if this is used in business, I have NO IDEA on what Florida thinks of this Frankenstein of a truck/van. Will they just see the 10,500 GVWR and go with that or will they have to inspect the truck?

Your in Florida, if your already in to the RV detail and moving business don't forget about their floating toys that need moved and detailed as well.

you have to remember that you are dealing with a broke and poor redneck with drain bamage.
if I could afford a hydraulic anything for this truck, I would have enough to just buy a truck and would need this one. I dont have a clue how I am going to afford the fifth wheel hitch for this. but I will let you guys know.

thanks for the boat tip.. I like that idea.
and I asked the dmv and they said that when I am done, I need to get a temp tag and get it weighed so they can reclassify the vehicle.

I just looked and it is a BOX frame. The motorhome company added on a c channel frame on the back about 4 feet long. I just haven't got under it and looked until just now.

can someone please educate me on what this means????

It means that the truck had to be extended to fit the camper on it. If you are using the truck in residential and rv camp sites that are tight you might want to shorten and take the C channel off

yes C channel is definitely coming off.. but I was asking about what does me having the box frame mean?
can I put cars and trucks on the flat bed?? is that a option? what does box frame mean as far as pay load capacity?
