As the only choice I had was to try to pick it up from the end, I had nothing to loose but to give it a shot. Picked it up much easier than I expected. I'll have to calculate the weight but it's less than my racks of firewood that pretty much max out the lift capacity.

Upright for the first time. A bit of welding to finish up and then on to the cutting area

ForumRunner_20140213_133106.png

It turned out MUCH flatter than I had expected. There's a very slight crown to it at the 4' end. Less than 1/16" total and it flattens out by 8" from the end. If I check the 5' direction, its flat as my level so my methods worked to keep it flat after I straightened it. YAY!

BukitCase, thank you very much for the weight table!!!

I have to ask. Why did you put the legs inside the frame. When I seen you stop the frame and only weld the corner I thought that was where your legs were going. But looks good.

You are the first person to comment on that. Ran out of daylight to get more pics so you'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out....

I'll have to take a look at that estimator next time I'm on the computer rather than my phone. Thanks for it

. Anyone that hasn't tried a needle scaler needs to. Makes the job much easier....

Ah; good ol' Princess Auto!

Looks good!

Are the corners that way to insert/attach accessories?

Winner winner!

Anything on a 2" tube can mount either direction off each corner. Saw and vice at the moment with a couple other ideas in the works. I'd seen the idea on a couple different ones as I was searching but they just left the main side tubes run long. I figured why limit it to 4 spots when its easy enough to do 8 then I can mount anything anywhere to suit the project at hand.

The center monted receiver is actually intended for a hitch to make moving it easier

Thanks for the explanation. You have thought this out. I wouldn't have thought of doing it.

Here's a free download that I use all the time to estimate weight of a finished project

http://www.farweststeel.com/content/misc_uploads/FWS_Standard_Weights_and_Gauges1.pdf

Save a copy to your computer and you won't even have to go online to use it - works fer me... Steve

Got a chance to have a look at this, very useful. Fortunately (for me), my steel supplier has similar tables in their order catalogue.

I just totaled things up and am currently sitting at 834 lbs plus the bolts attaching the wheels, the 2 large bolts & nuts for the leveler feet and whatever amount of weld material was added which will put it close to 850 lbs. The cutting slats, by rough count, will add another 80 lbs or so bringing the total to right around 930 lbs before I add the lower shelf (whenever I get around to it). I'm pretty happy with that.

Thanks for the compliment.

I'm blessed (or is that cursed?) with a mind that lets me see a great deal of different options and how they relate to each other.

No guessing allowed. Get the Procedure handbook and read up on how to measure the weight of weld metal deposited.

DISCLAIMER! Mathematicians may be required or your head could spin. :hissyfit:

I looked up that book, it's bloody expensive! Not that it's not worth it but $100 give or take is a lot. Got any suggestions where to get it for a reasonable price?

I'm pretty good with math but my oldest has a degree in Astro Physics and heading for likely Aerospace Engineering for his masters if it's over my head......

Member here Tractor Seabee just bought the Procedure Handbook from Lincoln. He said the same thing, the book was outrageous every where else.

Thanks for that. $25, now that's a reasonable price. 750 pages, must be some good stuff in it.

Do you have the U.S Army TC 9-237

As much as the Army thinks, I really doubt they know more about welding than Lincoln. Now if you really want to get into the encyclopedia of welding, gather up several thousand dollars and purchase all the code volumes! Lincoln used to advertise that the Procedure Handbook was purposely sold at a low cost so it was affordable to anyone. Most other 750 page hard cover reference books would cost $100's.
