Buying Advice What size Tractor do I really need?

/ What size Tractor do I really need? #21
rule of thumb in the farming industry is 10 hp per acre. So I would look at the 5000 series john deere too. we are using the 3030 to make ends meet

I do not agree with 10 hp per acre. 200 acre farm would need a 2000 hp tractor. The old farms were run with a lot less hp. It really depends on how much time you have to spend working with the tractor as to what size to get.

I could not agree more. A lot of chores can be done with a very small tractor. If you want to set on your tractor and mow, then get something that can handle a 48" mower and mow all day long. If you want to get that mowing done a bit quicker, then get something that will handle a 6 or 7 footer. Mowing is just an example, but holds true for many tasks that need to be done.

Me, I would rather get the task completed as quick as is reasonably possible.

Just my :2cents:
