B21 Kubota
B21 w/Backhoe
Model Year: 1999

Good machine. Could us a little more lift power on front bucket but...still happy after all these years. I'm a homeowner who had to take over completing rough grade to finished landscape on new house from bad builder. Machine did it all!

Pros: Backhoe.
Cons: Need little more pump power.

B21 Kubota
Kubota B21 with Front Loader and Backoe
Model Year: 2006

I'm very happy to have found my used Kubota B21 TLB with the TL421 front loader and BT751 backhoe, and hydrostatic transmission, in very good condition at approx 375 hours. Also included was a Gearmore 54" box scraper with top and tilt hydraulics. I've since purchased a 48" Bushhog SC148 rotary mower, and a Rhino HPHD post hole digger (9" auger bit), as well as an additional narrow (10") backhoe bucket. This is my first tractor, and I have had only limited experience operating tractors, so I don't really have much of a basis of comparison with other tractors. We have about 9 acres of rough pasture, mostly hilly, in the Sierra Nevada foothills "Gold Country". We have mowed and fenced off a portion of the hilly area as a horse pasture. I'm glad to have the small tough B21 to do this work. It seems to maneuver well around the rough rocky areas on the hill (difficult, especially at first!). I dug trenches for electric fence wires (10" bucket), and cleaned out some drainage ditches (12" bucket with teeth removed) so far with the backhoe. Again the small size and maneuverability was very good here. I can't imagine doing this work with a larger machine, and I am very glad the B21 is built beefy like a piece of construction equipment. I've only recently put on the box scraper and looking forward to work on the gravel driveway. I probably would not have chosen the hydrostatic transmission if I had ordered it new, but wow, is it sure nice to operate! I understand there is a little horsepower tradeoff. I appreciate all the support from both Gold Country Kubota locations in Grass Valley and in Newcastle. Thanks to Dennis, Jim, Adron, Peter, Wayne and Pat! So far, rave reviews from me on the B21!

Pros: Tough, maneuverable, strong for size, good integration of backhoe.
Cons: Expensive.

B21 Kubota
Best TLB Ever Built
Model Year: 2003

Bullet Proof. Perfect landscaping tractor. It has its place. It is not a full size backhoe, but it is great for tight places, easy on the turf and will fit through a small gate.

Pros: Small but stout for its size.
Cons: None.

B21 Kubota
Kubota B21 TLB
Model Year: 2005

Great little tractor, operation is in line with the big Cats, Case and John Deere but on a smaller scale. I have many hours on all of them. My purchase was based on a lot of research and a purchase of a 5 acre place in the country where I could build a new home & shop. The property was in an estate and had been left to nature, except for the many sheds, tall grass and weeds. The beauty was that it had more than 50 trees of many varieties, irrigation water rights and small canals or ditches running all over the place. This is a plus because I live in Central Oregon where shade trees are rare, especially nice large ones. The B21 was used to help remove the sheds to a large pit that I dug to burn them (we can still burn out here in the country). The removal of several trees that were in the building sites and thinning of many others. I dug a nice pond to hold the irrigation water, put a pipe in the ground to move the water from the feeder ditch to the new pond. Graded for the new shop (50 x 60 x 14), the new house and for a new spot for the old double wide MH which we turned into a office sewing/craft and over flow housing. I buried irrigation lines for the nearly 2.5 acres of lawn and landscaping. Buried power and telephone lines, household use water lines. The B21 was used to grade the home, shop and office, put in new roads, take out some old roads. The nice thing about the B21 is the ease of removal of the backhoe and installation of the 3 point hitch. I run a 4' tiller which I used to work up the areas for the lawns, landscaping and gardens. The soil in the area is nice sandy loan. (except for the few areas where lava rock is found, which is much of Central Oregon). The B21 was used to regrade about 1500' of driveways, parking areas. I purchased a 24" backhoe bucket and put in two septic systems. I take the teeth off the bucket and use it to clean irrigation ditches, grade for brick pavers on sidewalks and other small areas that need to the sod remove for landscaping. I also grade my neighbors driveway in exchange for being a good neighbor and stacking the horse manure next to our fence so I can put it on the garden. I move snow when we have some. I also did 3 days of work for a children's ranch last summer, which was removing acres of brush and small trees around a fishing lake. The B21 is one really fine tractor, easy on fuel and easy to use.

Pros: All good.
Cons: None.

B21 Kubota
Great Multipurpose Machine
Model Year: 2000

This TLB is a tough unit I use for rock walls, planting, hauling trees, firewood and snow removal. The rigidity of the frame means no flexing when lifting with the FEL or digging with the BH. Even when over-weighted it will still handle it well. Ground clearance along with the steel underbelly make it great in woods and around rocks and roots. Spring seat comfortable and swivel work well, and the ability to reach the hydro pedals and move the tractor when on the BH trenching or moving to a new location is great.

Pros: Toughness, Reliability, Price/Performance
Cons: Would like higher Hyd flow for log splitters etc.

B21 Kubota
General Use Kubota
Model Year: 2006

Hydraulic Lines are short, makes it difficult aligning tractor and implement for mount/dismount purposes. Other than that this loader, backhoe has met my every need once I changed the type of mower deck. Dealer sold me one that was cumbersome (brush-hog type - one wheel, 3 pt) I exchanged to a finish deck with 4 wheels and 3-pt hitch.

Pros: Ease of operation
Cons: Short Hyrdraulic lines

Kubota B21

This tractor has worked flawlessly. I did however just have one minor issue. The forward/reverse neutral safety switch got a bit gummed up from fine dust and during snow season would prevent starting when the switch boot was cold. Manually reaching in and wiggling it fixed it temporarily. For a permanent solution, sprayed some silicone on it and it freed it up.

Pros: Great tractor
Cons: I wish I could drag race it. :)
