4025 Mahindra
Very Solid Machine
Model Year: 2008

My father and I co-purchased this machine ten years ago to supplement our Perkins powered Massey 65, which is a great mowing and tilling tractor, but is not ideal for loader and hay work. The redesigned Mahindra models were somewhat new at the time, but our local dealer is very honest and spoke highly of them, so we decided to give them a shot. We are glad we did. This tractor does not have many hours on it, but they are all hard hours. The tractor is rarely used for easy tasks like mowing. It is used on a working goat farm for loading hay, tilling, fence work, and grading. The strong build of the chassis and axles has come in very handy. We have accomplished tasks that would not have been possible for a lesser tractor in this class. The hydraulics are very strong, if a bit slow. We perform our own maintenance and almost all items are easy to get to. Our only complaints with the tractor is that the brakes sometimes like to hang and the gauges will sometimes take a few minutes to start working. We are in a very humid climate and I believe moisture is to blame for both issues. That being said, I would certainly purchase this tractor again. It is simple, strong, and very easy to run.

Pros: Strong chassis and hydraulics, easy to operate
Cons: Hydraulics are a bit slow, brakes and gauges sometimes touchy

Won't Start
Model Year: 2014

My dealer stopped selling Mahindra tractors. I called Mahindra. Every time I would ask a question they would say I need to check with my dealer, no matter the question. Each time, I would tell them I have no dealer.

Pros: Not any
Cons: Won't start

Mahindra 4025

This tractor is a beast. If I had it to do over, I would have opted for 45 horsepower instead of 40, but the tractor is 4-wheel drive and does everything I need it to do. It has never faltered. My only grip is that half the bulbs have burned out in 140 hours. I bent the front-end loader so it is a little flimsy and I wish I had bought the heavy duty shredder as I am cutting 2-inch plus trees that wreak havoc on the shredder.

Pros: Strong, fuel efficient, versatile
Cons: I wish I had opted for more horsepowe

Trouble
Model Year: 2015

I always have to waste an hour or two trying to get this thing started. I've have this tractor for almost 2 years and I've had more trouble with it than I have in 40 years with a Ford 3000. I doubt seriously if we will be buying anymore Mahindras.

Pros: Strong
Cons: Trouble

Loving My 4025 4WD
Model Year: 2014

I bought the tractor with the Mahindra front-end loader, a 6-foot cutter, 6-foot landscaping box and a 20-inch trailer. I have been very impressed with the lifting capability of the front-end loader. Everything seems solid and heavy. It is definitely not state of the art but I like tried and true designs. I added a backhoe later. I also got a skid steer forklift forks and that has been a game changer. I thought the bucket was handy but the forks are handy times two.

Pros: Heavy, strong, simple
Cons: Maintenance, the engine oil drain plugs (yes plugs, there are 2) are almost impossible to get to, the hydraulic screen that you are required to clean at 50 hours makes you dump all your hydraulic fluid when it is removed

4025 Mahindra
Solid If Not High Tech
Model Year: 2014

The 4025 is a beast. It easily pulls 6" pine with a front end loader tree puller. It lifts itself with ease on the front end loader. I can send pics of me removing a front tire using it to lift the front-end if someone would like. At close to 7,000 pounds with the front end loader, it pulls whatever you hook it to, within reason. Does it have some rough castings? Yes. Does its paint fade a bit? Yes. Was it worth the money? Absolutely.

Pros: Strong, heavy, powerful, simple. Good fuel usage
Cons: Paint, finish

4025 Mahindra
Basic Iron
Model Year: 2013

This is old and proven technology. It has a powerful engine, and the weight helps get torque to the ground. It also has good lift capacity, and no problem picking up heavy implements or skidding logs. It will easily pull a six-foot brush-cutter in high weeds and will pull a five foot heavy duty brush cutter in 2" stuff with no problem. The draft control is nice for plow work. The ground speeds are good for most tasks. The fuel consumption is good for this size tractor. Value for the money spent is exceptional. So, what is there not to like? The Indian manufacturer still sports a few rough welds and the paint is prone to fading. The parking brake cable gets caught in brush and the ergonomics aren't on par with Kubota and some other competitors. I'll try to update this review in the future as I put more hours on the tractor (I've already put more hours on it than it had when I bought it), but for right now my opinion is the Mahindra 4025 2-wheel drive will satisfy the person who is looking for a replacement for a tired old 2-wheel drive 40 horsepower tractor, at a price that is within reach of almost anybody.

Pros: Value, weight, power
Cons: Ergonomics

SO FAR SO GOOD
Model Year: 2013

I use this tractor for mowing about 6 acres, snow removal, bush hogging, moving dirt, plowing garden, etc. It performed well last fall and was good for snow removal. Minor issue, "quick disconnect" hydraulics are a little bit of a pain, transmission shift is in awkward place, some 3 pt attachments a little difficult. Overall good tractor, so far.

Pros: Good for up to 15 acres
Cons: See review

A short follow up on last review in 2013
Model Year: 2012

Tractor is still a great machine. No major issues and it runs great. I have used it to mow pasture, lift hay and straw bales, spread gravel and rocks, and shovel stone and manure It works great. I have to say that despite its weight it slips in mud more easily than I think it should. And, in heavy snow it absolutely needs chains. Past tractors I owned have been much better in mud or snow. I'm thinking it might be the rubber used in Mahindra's tires, these tires are very hard on their surface. This tractor has been great on fuel and oil too. Other than the slipping this tractor was a great buy. I am sorry to find newer purchasers in 2014 have had bad performance issues.

Pros: Comfortable ride, good fuel economy, easy start,
Cons: Nothing majo

I Got the Tractor with a Backhoe on It. Do Not Buy One, It is Junk.
Model Year: 2014

It is junk. Do not buy one. The Mahindra cannot pick itself up off the ground. It has not power. They came out and look at it. They said that's how they are made. All the other tractor can do it, so don't buy one. It has been 5 months and they still will not get back to me. It runs and don't shut off---I can keep going. A friend has a 5010 Mahindra tractor, it has been back a lot. A/C doesn't work. I can keep going...

Pros: Junk.
Cons: Junk.

Mahindra 4025 Hard Working, Good Value
Model Year: 2014

Very powerful tractor, great value. Minor issues within first 10 hours. Alternator wire came loose, causing battery to die, hour meter to stop. Several pins n' bolts have fallen off. Now seems to operate without a hiccup for last 20 hrs.

Pros: Powerful, value.
Cons: Attention to detail w/assembly should be better.

Worse Tractor Ever Built
Model Year: 2012

I was a dairy farmer and still have cows. In the past 50 years I have had a number of tractors and this is the worse tractor ever built. I purchased this tractor new and in less than 200 hours the instrument panel stopped working, tractor seat fell off, the fuel line started leaking. There is zero downward push in the front end loader. The bucket doesn't even go all the way to the ground. You have to push the clutch pedal past the floor (where you put your feet) to totally disengage otherwise the gears grind when you shift. Notified the dealer about the clutch where purchased tractor and they said that was how the clutch was worked. Now the dealer doesn't handle Mahindra tractors anymore and doesn't carry parts for them either. There are other issues, but these are the major issues. I would never purchase another Mahindra tractor and would not recommend a Mahindra tractor to anyone.

Pros: None.
Cons: Poorly built, not reliable.

Manhindra 4025 4WD

So far so good on the 4025. Only issue is the location of the oil drain plugs, the fuel tank, and the transmission filler hole. Could have been made a little more accessible.

Pros: Good value for the money.
Cons: None yet.

New Tool
Model Year: 2014

Very happy with my Mahindra. No complaints so far. The basic transmission for loading etc. has not been a problem and I cannot foresee it being so. I choose to save on the bells and whistles and gain loader capacity and weight. The grapple, sun canopy and lights are add-ons.

Pros: Heavy duty.
Cons: None yet.

I have a 4025 Mahindra and am pretty pleased with it. That said, my RPM gauge, fuel gauge have quit working and I cannot get my tractor to start---new battery all wiring intact (not disconnected anywhere) nothing when turn on the key. Has anyone has similar issues?

Pros: Good solid platform.
Cons: Slow hydraulics.

4025 Mahindra
Land Clearing
Model Year: 2013

I purchased a new Mahindra 4025 4WD about a month ago. I have put 18 hours on it clearing land that was choked with sweet gums, pines and briars. Mahindra makes a big deal about the tractor being all metal and now I can see why. I would have ripped the bonnet and fenders off the JD that I was looking at. The tractor has enough power and weight to push over 6-inch pines without any trouble and once I got used to the transmission (gear) I can utilize the loader easily. I realize that the hydro-static or power shift are easier to use but I wanted a simple tractor that nothing (hopefully) could go wrong with. My root grapple just came in and I will be ordering the hoses soon. I may use a diverter valve that I found at AMD for $410 for the grapple. By attaching the valve to the tilt lines at main boom knuckle I could operate the grapple from the bucket controls. Otherwise I have to plumb lines to the rear remotes.

Pros: Price, weight, dealer response, all metal construction.
Cons: Haven't found any.

Great Start with New Tractor
Model Year: 2012

After YEARS of buying and using and repairing used tractors, I had the opportunity to buy a new 2012 Mahindra 4025. It has so far been great. Just breaking it in but what a wonderful machine. Comfortable, easy access to features and works wonderfully. The front loader and 6 ft. medium rotary mower work very well. It is BIG however and takes a lot of room in the barn. This is not a bad thing, just an observation. I will give a year review next spring. I love this tractor. Will add a pic later.

Pros: New, everything works, good observation for driver, well lit.
Cons: Nothing!

Muffler
Model Year: 2010

The welds around the exhaust pipe and muffler was just spot welded and the weight of the muffler cause the pipe to break loose from the manifold at 42 hrs. plus cutting in high weeds cause pins to be pulled out from under the tractor too often, I had to replaced them with bolts and locking nuts, the pin that locks the emergency brake cable under the tractor, replaced it with a H.D.key ring, no more problem, other than that, this is a fine tractor.

Pros: Tractor rides good, turns well.
Cons: Could have put better pins under tractor.
