Ordered a 5045E

OK, well, I got the main frame of the guard on order and I thought I got a good price on it, about 100.00 shipped but now I find out that it doesn't come with the bolts or spacers! Those spacers through John Deere are terribly high priced! From what I have seen, about 17.00 each and I think it takes 6 of them! I am going to have to try to find a different source for those, I guess. When you refer to the 2 inch pipe spacers, is that the exact measurement for them? Do you know what the diameter of them is? I don't want to have more in the spacers than I have in the guard. I will end up at the cost of a new one at that rate. Thought I was saving money and now I am not so sure!

Most everything on a 5045e is metric. So those spacers are probably 50mm long. bolts and spacers from your dealer shouldn't be to bad.

Thanks, I will check with him but everything I have seen on the net is about 17.00 or more for each spacer. I may end up having to make some out of pipe or something!

I just thought of an idea that should save some money on the spacers. Don't know why it took me so long. Anything wrong with using several washers stacked??

Well two inches is quite a stack and the hardware store probably gets thirty cents a piece for them but I guess it would work.

Much cheaper by the pound at TSC

Ya, I have no doubt I could beat the spacer price by using washers. I just need to figure out the bolt size I need now! :)

I went out and pulled one of mine for you. They measure to be English grade 5,- 5/8 x 3 1/8 . wrench size is 15/16".

Thanks so much!!! Very thoughtful of you!
The threads, I guess, might be the other question or would all English grade 5's be cut with the same threads? At least I know they are a 5/8ths wide. That will tell me what size washer or spacer I need.
Thanks again!

They are the normal coarse bolt thread not the finer machine thread. Funny that those front holes in the frame are drilled and tapped English. Those further back where the loader frame is mounted on are metric. The parts catalog clearly shows English sized bolts for mounting on a front weight rack but I haven't found a parts list for the hood guard as of yet .
