MX5400....I hate the seat safety switch

If you have the common sense to worry about the consequences of disconnecting the switch than you have enough common sense to be aware of what you did and it will be OK. Someone disconnected the switch on my L4060, but I keep the switch working on my BX2360 since I use that pretty much...

    Diesel mixed with gas

In the 1950 and 60's it was not uncommon to add a little diesel to the tank to free up a stuck valve. 1974 MF150 Diesel Won't Start Without Jump Starter

First off I'd do a quick test of the battery by placing a test light on it. If the light fails to come on or fades quickly the battery is suspect. Pull it off and take it to a parts store to be tested if you do not have a tester. If the battery is good, but not charged, the charging system has...

Need help picking correct oil for my 25 year old 19hp twin Generac generator

I once had the opportunity to attend a forum where the chief lubrication engineer for Ford spoke. In a nut shell his point was that any motor oil produced today is superior to those made previously. I use 5-w30 synthetic in all of the small engines including a 2002 Generac generator. I agree...

Why so much tongue weight on 22' car hauler trailers?

I respectfully disagree. Weight distributing hitches are widely used in the RV market and make it possible to tow a trailer that is well within the total tow weight rating of the tow vehicle but is front heavy making the total hitch weight too high.

Why so much tongue weight on 22' car hauler trailers?

I agree you need to start using a weight distributing hitch. They shift some of the tongue weight to the front axle of the tow vehicle to help level the load. If you buy a new trailer the dealer should set it up for you to ensure it is road safe for the loads you intend to pull.. Make sure you...

Loader A gentle reminder that tractors are not dozers

A friend broke his Ford 1710 in a similar manner when he hand loaded the bucket with crushed rock. By hand loading it he was able to greatly exceed the weight capacity that the tractor was capable of carrying and when he hit a hole while carrying the stone it was over in a few seconds.

Attaching Winch to Front of Tractor?

The OP stated it is a HF winch which have a 10% duty cycle. If it is operated in accordance with that having enough battery to operate it should not be a problem. I use an Anderson type connector for 12V power and have a ball mount welded on the front of the tractor so I can use a cheap HF...

Can a propane tank be repurposed?

If you are trying to make a small, lightweight, tank to carry you can use PVC pipe. Keep the pressure below 150 psi and you will not have any issues with failure. The one caveat to PVC is it gets brittle with age and can fail. I'd replace the tank every few years to prevent that.

Questions about replacing equipment trailer deck wood and repainting trailer chassis.

It will if you cannot get a title to get tags. SC does not require tags on utility trailers, so if you can get it you can use it since there is no way for law enforcement to know who the rightful owner is. Pulling a trailer without tags in VA is a sure way to get stopped.

Same in SC, but what you save in registration you spend on locks to keep the trailer from being stolen.
