Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Hey this thread is great. Chinese excavators are on my radar. Have you encountered any design flaws or quirks? I had imported an engine powered flail mower from china and i know there were some little things i had to take care of like loose bolts, design flaws, and reinforcing certain areas.

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

Yep I’m with u. $5k makes me apprehensive especially bc i know it’s inflated and expect something to go wrong with it. Chinese mini exs are for sale near me for like $10k. Not sure i trust them either but yea i agree could be better. Maybe I’ll try renting a mini ex. that is awesome.

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

Not familiar at all with them. Just did some quick searching. Where would i even find them? And how much are they would i need new rims too?

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

Yep this guy has the equivalent of the Jansen mb300. I was actually very ready to get the Jansen then saw this video Now my OCD is kicking in and I’m worrying about that single steel piece being a poor design. I’ve seen this guy dig plenty of big rocks with this thing. My current thoughts...

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

Yep it’s a great point. I think the weight of my backhoe is why I’m going to steer clear of this method. If i had a sub compact hoe i think it would be better. I think i may go w the dedicated manufactured towable that i posted
  8. B

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

I'd tow with my ATV Also FWIW i am currently thinking this design is nice b/c it doesn't have to be attached to a vehicle and can move itself around
  9. B

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

I am thinking i might get the towable backhoes that they make. Where I’ll be going is harsh ground conditions. I don’t think it’s good for any machine really. The towable backhoes that the make might be the best solution.

Anyone ever drove over plywood on soft grass or mud w their tractor?

Yea this spot is tricky. It will rain and recharge the ground water level bc it gets tons of runoff. I am very close to getting a towable backhoe to do the job.

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

Any more info on this? This is exactly what i am talking about. I just need to know what engine size is needed and other specs are helpful.

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

Area I’m working in ground is too soft for my tractor. But not too soft for an atv or towable mower
  13. B

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

You have a really good point. U think I’d be in rough shape if i just used the normal Branson stabilizers? I need them pushed out forward to make it usable? That could be a dealbreaker and force me to just get the dedicated towable sn
  14. B

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

Bc i need to take it in terrain. A tractor can’t go to. This is an alternative to a towable backhoe
  15. B

Thinking of making my backhoe attachment towable and usable OFF the tractor!

Hey friends I have encountered a situation where i could use a "towable" backhoe. We all know the HF Trenchers and there are other models. The issue for me is that i am not sold on their durability and they are quite pricey! Around $5k if i wanted a "good" one which is subjective. Anyway I have...

Anyone ever drove over plywood on soft grass or mud w their tractor?

That’s interesting and not something i was aware of. We have thought of renting a mini ex. I cut the grass using my quad and a toe behind flail mower which weights 609 lbs. the tires didn’t even get wet that’s why i thought it was good to go with the tractor. But once we got to a certain...

Anyone ever drove over plywood on soft grass or mud w their tractor?

I have to dig a trench. But the area is soupy in spots. Its part of a field. I hear you on the mini ex. That is the best solution, mini ex with bog mat but i don’t have either. We were out there w the tractor yesterday and it did decent enough, just kind of sank in a few of these spots which...

Anyone ever drove over plywood on soft grass or mud w their tractor?

No i haven’t. Tomorrow i might call around. I am expecting it to be hard to find or expensive to rent.
  19. B

Anyone ever drove over plywood on soft grass or mud w their tractor?

I think i would use plywood not osb. But yes i probably could do that. That’s a good idea. I’m thinking i might cut the large sheets into 4x4 or 2x4 pieces.
  20. B

Anyone ever drove over plywood on soft grass or mud w their tractor?

I think they just aren’t big enough.
  21. B

Anyone ever drove over plywood on soft grass or mud w their tractor?

My plan right now is to get 4 .. 4x8s. I would put them horizontal to the tractor. So i would stack four in front of me like an 8ft wide road. I reckon my tractor will fit on 3 then i would leap frog the free one. Good point about them getting suctioned, i have a backhoe so i figure if I’m...

Anyone ever drove over plywood on soft grass or mud w their tractor?

I’m doing a job, in a field where some areas can get soupy. After tons of research plywood seems like it might be the best route for me at this time. I just wanted to see if anyone had done this before?

    Chassis grease point on 3620h?

I’ll try harder to get to it. Sounds like u might have one more zerk than me on chassis but you have an R and i have an H so that would make Sense
  25. B

    Chassis grease point on 3620h?

Ok yea i think i got that one my coupler just made it. It was near the middle of the tractor but between the wheel and frame. the 4wd lever one is best visible when looking through the floorboard by the 4wd lever. The opening is too narrow to get a coupler through there.
  26. B

    Chassis grease point on 3620h?

You have one for each wheel? I only found one. also yea i realized the 3620h has different rims than yours and the old 3520. My rims are not reversible like that which is kind of a bummer
  27. B

    Chassis grease point on 3620h?

Hey all i just want to ask the crowd here where all the grease fittings are on the chassis? I just did my 50hr service and this is what i found … am i missing any? I’ll go from front to back 1. On the front of the tractor there is a fitting on each tie rod end 2. Also on the front are 2...

Drying up field ... does subsoiling really work?

Yep i am in a game process of elimination . Once i know all the trenches and water sources are as good as they could be i have to monitor for further wet spots. I have never thought of grading but probably should. and i definitely want to plant trees
  32. B

Drying up field ... does subsoiling really work?

How deep does it have to go. How far apart and on a hill do you run them cross slope or with the slope? I’ve researched them but to me the only thing that would seem to be doable would be to lay them not that deep. Maybe 24” or so
  33. B

Anyone ever built their own "bog mats"?

It’s a big area. Probably 2-300 ft total. I would need to leapfrog it someway. I’m thinking large enough wood sections for each wheel will do it.
  34. B

Anyone ever built their own "bog mats"?

Where can i get scrap? i understand about the canoe analogy too. I just used plastic pallets this weekend and they helped me get unstuck but i didn’t use them as bog mats. that’s the trick i have to come up with a system i can leapfrog using the tractor. So moving by hand.

Anyone ever built their own "bog mats"?

I have a job i need to do which will require something like this. If you don't know what bog mats are - they are usually wooden rectangles/square sections that an excavator can pick up, put in front of them, and drive on in marshy conditions. I don't have an excavator- i have a tractor with...

50hr service 3620h, what oils? And any tips?

  42. B

Drying up field ... does subsoiling really work?

Well to be clear all the storm water will be diverted properly into a body of water. i am mainly referring to any standing water. Wondering if “subsoiling” actually helps with drainage. I know they say it does but was looking for real experience. im not opposed to tiling at all i also don’t...

Has anyone done their 50hr service (or any service on the hydro fluid) w/ the backhoe on the 20 series?

sounds like i'll take it off. will be nice to get used to taking it off and putting it on anyway!
  45. B

Drying up field ... does subsoiling really work?

Ok so quick backstory. We bought property. Was basically abandoned for 100 years. Over that time the state put culverts under the road nearby and diverted stormwater onto the field. So right now the field receives stormwater runoff, but also a constant trickle of water diversion from 2-3+ spring...

I want to add an hydraulic thumb to my tractor backhoe

Hey guys so a guy did this on one of the facebook groups. He had a manual thumb on his tractor backhoe. Ballast Compact TLB should i remove tire fluid?

Lots of good replies. My manual mentions nothing of the ballast with backhoe on. i think i will just keep it ballasted now. I’m sure it may be more nimble without it but. I know the hoe can lift it. if i knew an easy quick way to drain and store the fluid i might be more inclined to test it.

I have a Branson 3620h w a bh250 backhoe. Based off my estimate the machine weighs 7800lbs. bh is subframe mounted. im looking at the manual right now and the boom pin is 32x206mm and the swing frame pins are 45x107mm. I am just guessing that is where most of The stress would be applied. so...

yea I’ve been wondering about the design of that one, it’s unlike any others I’ve seen. I need to get specs on it. i feel that i will likely be rooting smaller things with a grapple at times.

    Best grapple for brush?

I’ll have a Branson 3620h. Lift capacity at pins is 2700lbs. i seem to be leaning towards the clam style vs the bucket style. weight also seems to be a big factor for me, especially since I’ll probably have this on most of the time.

Becoming a farmer? & Tax Exempt on Tractor

ok ... i have 30 acres ... going to buy a tractor to maintain it, and plant food plots. I am aware that tractors for "farm use" are tax exempt. I would not mind getting into farming but if i get into farming does that mean the government will then come do inspections or do any other types of...
