Satisfied with My Deere 5075E After One Year
Model Year: 2012
I waited until owning this tractor until I'd ran it a year. I have an actively managed tree farm and use my 5075E for pulling a 10' heavy rotary cutter, spraying, food plots, logging and all kinds of front end loader work. I have 112 hours on it. The 5075E is about as simple, straightforward of a tractor that you can get in its power range. The motor is turbocharged and it's the same displacement motor that's in the 5045E, the smallest of its class. That means the 5075E is REALLY turboed, and it does suffer a bit from the problem of not having a lot of lugging power at lower rpms. The tranny is fine, and the shifting is fine. You're buying a basic tractor here, and you're getting a 9 forward/3 reverse tranny that Deere has built for years. I saw where a previous reviewer had problems with reverse's location. All I can say is the tranny has tight shifting, good gear spacing and good ergonomics. I have a front end loader stick and it's not in the way of the shifter. The tractor is well built underneath. That's important to me because I mow heavy weeds and light brush and most new tractors have far too many vulnerable wires and hoses along their belly. The front end loader is well matched. I got the heavy bucket and it is too heavy. I should have gotten the standard bucket (and this from the guy who gradually tore up the bucket on his old Deere 5410). Haven't had the front end loader off yet but it looks easy enough. I added a canopy from a shortline manufacturer, then added a fully belly guard, heavy limb risers, and reinforced canopy. This tractor works well in my timber applications. Bottom line is that the 5075E simple, well priced and practical.
Pros: I got the block heater option and the tractor starts great on cold (10 degree F) mornings. The tractor is sturdy and built heavily. It's a fairly simple tractor and I'm comfortable doing most of the servicing. There aren't a lot of electronics on it. It's heavily built and I envision owning this tractor for at least 15 years.
Cons: I was told the "global mount" on the front end loader was universal, but it's not. If you want a true universal mount get the skid steer mounts. Still, the global mount latch system is awesome. You have to order a rear implement light as it isn't standard. That's kinda odd. My fuel tank gasket and turbo line both leaked the first year, but JD has fixed them. The front wheel drive lever needs a heavier mounting bracket. The PTO lever is surprisingly hard to throw. Extendable lift arms are an expensive option. There are no cup holders and no good place to put a water jug or your lunch box. The instrument panel fogs up (just like my 5410 did) even though my tractor has never sat out in the rain.
