Ford aluminum body vs Ram steel - can the Ram do as well?

We each have our own needs. There are other aluminum body cars as well like Audi. But there are downsides like insurance costs and long term fatigue cracks and corrosion. My older truck is a California truck that is 30 years old with 550k miles. No rust and not likely to have any.

  126. aircommuter

New to me TC29D cranks & won’t start

It is a fact that the explosion cannot push the injectors open, therefore the compression can’t either. How would the engine run with compression pushing air up the injection lines? This is not an opinion.

New to me TC29D cranks & won’t start

    Facts are facts.
  128. aircommuter

New to me TC29D cranks & won’t start

That’s almost funny. If the injectors leaked back how would they handle the explosion? The surface area of the nozzle is so small it can’t push back. The blow by tells the story. So much guessing on here the guy is just chasing his tail until the main thing is corrected.
  129. aircommuter

New to me TC29D cranks & won’t start

Too much blow by and very little resistance to cranking per compression stroke. Likely they started it with either until it wouldn’t start anymore. Time for disassembly.
  130. aircommuter

New to me TC29D cranks & won’t start

The low compression, blow by and the sound of the way it cranks would be enough for me. After all the years working on engines I can tell low compression by the sound of the way it cranks.

The amperage draw will be provided by the starter and the engine and other spinning components. If the voltage drops below 9.6 it indicates a problem. Then one must diagnose.
  134. aircommuter

New to me TC29D cranks & won’t start

Low cranking speed won’t give blow by. Cranking test is simple, 9.6 volts at the starter when cranking.

New to me TC29D cranks & won’t start

Since the OP said it had blow by when cranking that part of the leak down test is complete. Compression even with oil is too low.
