Propane works fine for a back up. That is what I use. When installing make sure you have a way to isolate the 2 heat sources. Otherwise you will never be able to leave for more than a few days in the winter.

I ran for about 45 minutes of cutting and didn’t hear anything when I opened the cap. The pump is def doing something. So I am gonna drain the tank and flush it with some gas and then add a 1/2 tank of lube and run it and take it somewhere quiet to open it up.

Oil is pumping out. So I assume the pump is working. Took the bar off and ran the saw and oil comes out. It is near freezing temps here. Stihl Chain lube is thick.

Ok that didn’t help. It is flowing out, just not enough. I need to thin it some. I mixed in some gas into the oil in the tank and that helps. But I will try a complete flush with fuel after this tank is empty and see.

It is really a sickening thing. In life you learn to not push equipment to its limit. So you try to be safe and get more truck and trailer than you need. Not that I ever will be over 26k. But because my rig is rated for it, I need 4 weeks of class on trucks that I will never drive.

Most newer 3/4 ton trucks have a GVWR of 9900. And they can tow 16k+

I will say this, it is less of a fine to be over your rating than driving within your rating of 26,001 without a CDL…. Sadly even completely unloaded…

That is the right thing to do. Maxing out the rating of a 3/4 ton pickup that is equipped with the same stuff as a 1 ton is the only thing you can do these days without spending $5k to get a newly issue class a CDL.

Best way to go is rent a skid steer for a couple of days. Cost about the same as a box blade. But will get it done much faster and probably better.

The key is to push the rocks back on the driveway while they are still in the snow. As the piles melt just bring the snow back onto the driveway, bring the rocks while it is easier.
