It's a Perkins diesel. Continental only made gassers for Massey-Ferguson; That's according to my manual. & it always starts right up M-F 50 1959.

I concur some what in that I own a older gasoline tractor that I have owned for 26 years ! The longest I've let her sit is 3 months , & I have never had a issue with fuel in the tank or carburetor issues.

A tractor would be exempt on some sensors , & catalytic converters can be located anywhere on a tractor! rather than underneath. & also most of the sensors are way more reliable than they were 30 years ago.

On my M-F 50 I just replaced the piston rings & the valve stem seals & she has been running fine since then & that was a little over 20 years ago & a little blow by is quite normal.

I currently own the best of both IMHO 1959 M-F 50 gasoline & a 2018 M-F 1526 diesel Iseki engine both tractors are very well made & reliable ,Parts are easy to get just make sure You get a dealer You can work with & really wants to work with You & I went out of my way to buy both tractors...

I myself have never had a issue with getting any parts for both of my Massey-Ferguson's & like You I went out of my way to buy both tractors & as I've stated stated there parts network is nationwide & pretty much world wide & very helpful.

Thanks Williy ! I did run wire loom around the wiring & ran it so it's either on the backside or on the inside of the rops & the radio antenna leans backwards & is made of rubber & this tractor only goes in areas where tree limbs or branches are not a issue & if they are they will meet my pole...

Nice tractor! All I've ever used is the Autolite plugs (y). & I don't know the number :unsure: I buy them at NAPA & they are for a Z134 Continental gasoline engine & I've never had any problems with them & since I put the Pertronix in they last 3 times longer & that is what was in the M-F 50...

I think You can still find a good used one for that, Mine is a 1999 Chevrolet 3500 1ton dually with a 5.7 gasoline engine & only has less than 53,000 on the clock & I've never had any issues with it & it is easy to service , But I do like that idea of leaving a dump trailer as a dumpster.
