Adding remote hydraulics to my Ford 4610LCG to run a batwing mower.

I missed that. I don't think so. Ford ones didn't.

Adding remote hydraulics to my Ford 4610LCG to run a batwing mower.

Reliable Aftermarket Parts sells kit for this. I have used them for other things, but not this. My tractors came with them. Mounts under the seat, like Ford does.

Farmers: What is the legal structure of your farm?

SP and I do the taxes. Horizon has my loan, but they don't do my books. Waiting for the tax form from them right now. I expect it to be in my mailbox today.

    vicon km 240

You are likely SOL. Mine finally wore out and no parts. Kubota owns Vicon now. I bought a used DMC9028 2 years ago.

    Road transport of 10-12' disk?

Aren't 10 and 12' getting kind of big for 63hp? Even with 8' I have to get a running start with my 63hp before dropping the disc. Because of road nuisance I only use a 10' (with 20" discs) on the 135hp. No clipped mailboxes or cars hitting it.

How Many Have More Than One Tractor?

I agree with that. I have 3, and they have their particular jobs, based mostly on HP. But they do have overlapping capabilities, which covers the above!

    JD 5055E

A friend has a few of the E tractors, in several hp and some 4x4. He loaned me the 70hp 4x4 when one of mine had spooge in the tank. I liked it for the disc mower conditioner I was running. I found it pretty fast on the road, too. I like that. He says the E tractors are "gutless".

Blocking the clutch pedal when parked?

1 car and two tractors stuck. The last was this spring because the 9600 hadn't been run for a few years. Lucky it will start in gear. Starter and brakes broke it loose.

Who Listens to a Stereo in their Cab'd Tractor?

I run my 47 year old noisy cab with the window open so I can hear what's going on. No way a stereo would work in that cab anyway.

Neighbors Sue for Horse Manure Pile Smell

Here in town we are RTF by town ordinance. Real estate people are required to tell buyers what to expect when they move here. There isn't much a newcomer can do to an existing farmer following the law. But I try to keep them happy, not spreading on my fields right by houses, etc.

    Kubota offering online parts

Love Messick. I couldn't buy a Kubota DMC (Vicon, really) from them because I am out of the area, but buy parts and accessories from them. As well as Ford and International. Got the DMC used and Messick's still supports it.

    Horrific ATV accident

Neighbor here harrowed his little daughter. She was lucky and only got a leg gash. I would not have a kid on any tractor that didn't have a buddy seat while working. No I don't have anything that new, so no riders.

    Another rant about buying used

I especially like the "motor was gone through". Means as little as dealers saying "went through the shop".

Mowing on slopes maximum angle before tip

If it was any cuter, I wouldn't be on it! One tractor death in the family is enough. I wouldn't touch your slopes with anything bigger than a walk behind Trailblazer. You guys have bigger cajones than me!

Mowing on slopes maximum angle before tip

I have this scary field. It drops 200 feet to the road. Ford 9600 no way, 5600 have to for baling, be very careful, 2810 is almost comfortable, but there are bumps and depressions that are still scary. The taller the tractor the sooner the COG is over the downhill tire, I find!

MF 1835M loader support collapsed on tractor

I never really looked at the modern loader frames. I didn't know they made some with no nose bar. The nose bar on my Farm Hand loader would stop that from ever happening. Mine looks like this one, just not as pretty.

    Do These Actually Work...

I don't see how that cranked thing could do much. Stones need to turn fast to do the job. Although I always have a file with me, and can touch up sitting on the ground with the saw facing me, I have an Oregon 12v that I put a trailer plug on and use it on my tailgate (if the truck is near).

How many of your friends do NOT have tractors?

My friends are either part time farmers, like me, or full time. We all lend stuff (not just tractors) to each other.

    Post puller….

Agree with Goose1776 assessment. I put it on my fel on the 62hp Ford and it will nearly pop the front tires. Very strong. The 3pt ssqa adapter makes it really powerful.

Why Suzuki is better than Kubota

Messick's had been good for my Kubota, Ford, New Holland nation wide and even discontinued stuff. As long as it isn't a brand new product, because I'm out of their area. I could go there, I guess!

    Waste Oil

I still oil the short road to the barn. When my father was young ('30s) in Maine they sprayed it under cars and drove them on Dusty roads to coagulate it. When he was a kid, he and friends had a Model T and drained cans at the filling station for oil!

    customer services frustration

My old Ford tractor dealer was sold, and then closed. Next NH was further away and not very nice to deal with. A new NH opened near where my old dealer was. Owner not customer friendly. Messick's always has my back. I guess if I ever need pros to fix something, I'll have to haul it there. They...

Don't like them. I just palm the old Fords. Two of them are hydrostatic, so the knob would never be where I expected, anyway.

What's up with the Kioti 7 pin trailer plug?

That is NOT an ag plug. My Kubota DMC and all my friends new Deere tractors have ag plugs. They are SAE J560.

    DIY Canopy.

I made this from old banner vinyl (from the printshop I work for) and 3/4 EMT. The clips are 3/4 PVC with 1/3 cut out of them. The bow in the middle keeps it from flapping. The soft material doesn't reflect sound as much as my fiberglass canopy on the middle tractor does. The Compression...

    Being ripped off by dealers

I would prefer to buy tractor parts locally, but where I am the dealers are 40 minutes to 1-1/2 hour away, and aren't very good. Messick's in PA is very good and they are a real dealer, not an internet place. Get my Ford/NH/Kubota stuff from them. Only actually been there once. They have since...

    Being ripped off by dealers

I have bought two starters from DB Electrical in the past ~15 years. The first is still going strong. The second, on the second use, had the solenoid fry shut and the starter smoked before I could get the battery disconnected. They sent me a new one. Fortunately I could use the other tractor...

    30HP vs 26HP 60" bush hog?

I bush hog and finish mow with a Ford 33hp 2810. It will cut anything with the five foot rotary cutter. Have a six foot estate mower for the lawn. R3 tires to not ruin the lawn. Not a compact, an actual farm tractor, just a small one. My wedding and raking tractor, too.

    Hydraulic coupler advice

I hate FF, but two implements came with them and my buddy (also a farmer) has a skid steer. I use adapters so we can use each other's stuff. The adapters can also help me connect the PIA FF connectors. ISO Ag couplers on the third function, then adapters.

Who want to chat about plasma cutters?

Although mine is red, it is the same model. I wouldn't get one that didn't have pilot arc. I'm not that good! www.uwelding.com is their website. Supposed to do up to 5/8", I know it will do up 1/2" from using mine. Never had to do heavier.

Who want to chat about plasma cutters?

I have had the Lotos since 2017. Does everything I need for farm stuff. I'm not a fabricator. Got the 40 piece nozzle and cap kit for it, haven't used them all yet.

    Getting back into hay

Is your baler not a New Holland? The wheel is the only thing controlling pickup height on New Hollands (at least the 310 and 565 I have). 2" above the ground is where mine are, too. It's in the grass and picks up good.

    Remove ROPS

My brother would be alive now if the 2240 had come with a Rops.
  43. H

    Getting back into hay

Used to mow with a sickle and conditioner, too, decades ago. Why doesn't your baler's pickup wheel touch the ground? Your tines are above the grass. Would sweep better if they were in the grass.

    Mice got me!

January 2019 (a month before starting prostate treatment 90 miles away) I went to plow snow with the ol' Ford 5600. Cranked once, made pop, smoke from the hood. Opened the hood, said "****, tractor's on fire", blanked about the extinguisher in the barn, ran to the garage for the older one. Put...

    Bush Hog

My Haybine (still have it) is a Haybine. My Ford 151 plow is an Oliver or White, if you paint it green or red (Oliver made them) great plow. I don't think my Ford rotary is Bush Hog - not as solid as Bush Hog. As far as Sears, my Winchester 94 is a Ted Williams 100.
  52. H

    Bush Hog

I agree that this has been amusing. My Bush Hog is a 10' wheel harrow. My rotary cutter is a Ford, that I call "the blue mower". The yellow mower is a Ford flail. My friend has Brown rotary (brand, not color) and it's really well made. I have my Skilsaw 77 and inherited my Father's, which is...

Tractors from Auctions, what do you check before buying.

I learned to check your purchase again after you bought it before you head for home! I bought, at auction, a Ford 9600. Too big for my trailer and drove it home, about 20 miles. Tractor Supply is half-way home, stopped there for pee break. Found that somebody had pulled the dipstick out and only...

Need to be concerned about this rust?

It's the battery. If I use NAPA crappy batteries in my 2810 (older version of your 3930) acid sloshes out and then down the side of the engine. Notice the rust on the battery tray pivot, also. I use farm batteries, now, not highway batteries.

Four Fords 9N #9 (number 9, number 9 if you get the reference) 2810 Little Blue 5600 Big Blue 9600 Super Blue (named it before I even got to the auction) One Jacobsen Jake or little Orange Always name stuff!

    Power Washing the Tractor

Yes, typo from my phone. I think you meant "baling", not "bailing". The first is corn stalks, the second is water!:) The previous owner did bale stalks with my baler. Was still finding them 3 years later!
  61. H

    Power Washing the Tractor

I power wash tractors when groady and especially after spreading fertilizer. Must wash spreader and tractor after that. Blow hay tools, but wash the baler every couple years. Baking straw really filthy it up.

Squirrel just jumped on balcony now. How can I discourage them fast?

I was with Hay Dude and the .410 until he wanted to use it for NOISE. I have had more trouble with flying squirrels than gray, although both are trouble. My little Ithaca Saddle gun and CB shorts make it uncomfortable for them! I don't use the .410 around the house.
